Prompted by a revenge-seeking Ilythia, a boy makes a drastic decision during his coming-to-manhood party and orders Spartacus to kill Varro after an exhibition duel held between the two of them. Spartacus is adamant not to do it, but Varro makes him see he has no other choice or they’ll both be killed, and makes the first thrust with the sword upon himself. In the end, Spartacus is forced to finish his good and only friend, after promising him he’d look after his wife and child.
